Michelle Kline, crossing geographic boundaries with World Campus
With faculty and staff like Michelle Kline, it’s no wonder that Penn State’s World Campus is ranked the number one online institution in the nation by The Best Colleges, an individual independent evaluator of colleges and institutions.
Michelle is an academic coordinator for the Bachelor of Business Inter-College program at Penn State Greater Allegheny, as well as a faculty member in the Accounting department at Penn State Greater Allegheny and the Penn State World Campus. A passionate advocate for World Campus, Michelle delivers courses from one Penn State campus to reach students at another Penn State campus, which eliminates geographical limitations to provide students the resources they may not have otherwise. She says online learning allows her to build relationships with each student and helps prepare students for careers in a global economy, where many business relationships exist only via email and phone.
Michelle uses all the tools at her disposal―including somewhat unorthodox ones, like Skype―to build a community for each class that she teaches. Her commitment to her students, intelligence, focus and enthusiasm make her a joy to work with and a favorite of Penn State students across the Commonwealth. Perhaps her highest praise comes from a former student who noted she’s “as fun as accounting can get!”
